Spring Update

The weather has been great in the City Beautiful lately and I’m enjoying the spring season before the summer heat takes over. A lot has been happening in Orlando as well, including me writing heavily over at West Orlando News and developing the Metro City content.

Some of my recent writings have continued to highlight the divide between the elected officials in Orlando and the people. There has still been NO action from City Commissioners or the Mayor in regards to the slumlords operating at Orange Center Boulevard. Worse than that, Mayor Dyer made his gentrification efforts more blatant as he started buying up land in Parramore, which he hopes to develop into yet another stadium (this one for soccer). West Orlando News discovered that the city doesn’t even have the money to spend on this land grab, they borrowed it against their current debt. Check out my story on Dyer’s Debt on Debt land grab deal.

It’s sad to see what continues to happen to the African-American community in Orlando. The orchestrated attacks on the people from the city leadership is unprecedented, whether one be a minority, or homeless, or struggling financially and it needs to stop.

In other Orlando news, I’ve been covering a lot of the great changes happening at Universal Orlando as their parks continue to expand. The new Transformers ride will open in just a few weeks – are you ready for battle? Some cool other additions coming soon include an expanded Springfield with more Simpsons favorites like Moe’s Tavern, Krusty Burger and Duff Gardens among others.

Also, Andressa Leite is an amazing, hard-working small business owner in College Park, who runs her business after working a full day at her regular full-time day job. Sun Mist is spraying success locally, so be sure to check out the spotlight on her business!

A lot more will be coming soon…and GO SLU! Hope they win the A-10 Championship!
