Final Mission for Space Shuttle Atlantis: My Historic & Inspirational Day at Kennedy Space Center

A dream came true when I was able to be part of the final mission for Shuttle Atlantis on November 2, 2012. My up-close experience followed the Shuttle all day long, providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The journey was fascinating to witness and rewarding in so many ways. I only hope that Atlantis and the other shuttles will continue to inspire the next generation of space exploration and interest in the U.S. and around the world. Here are a few snapshots from my day at Kennedy Space Center – and thank you to NASA and KSC for providing me the credentials to take this journey with Shuttle Atlantis.

Shuttle Atlantis rolls out of the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building) just as the sun started to rise for the final time, beginning a 10-mile journey to its permanent home at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
