Plans have now been released detailing the new Garden Bridge at Universal Orlando and it will be the first of its kind in Florida. The Garden Pedestrian Bridge will connect Universal’s new Cabana Bay Beach Resort to the main resort.

The Garden Bridge at Universal Studios Orlando project is approximately 3,000 sf (145′ x between 18 and 25′ wide). Selected ground covers, shrubs and trees will escort pedestrians almost without notice that they are crossing over a busy road below and is sure to be a distinctive landmark. The design says it will be easily accessible for the handicapped or service carts.

Earlier this year, the City of Orlando approved $4.5 million to build a pedestrian bridge connecting the new resort hotel. Construction is set to begin in early 2014 on this project.

The Green Bridge is designed by Miles Architecture Group Inc., Libra Design Group and Green Roof Service LLC.
